Parramatta Square

Cut excavation loadout time by 30% compared to conventional methods at Parramatta Square, NSW.

The Project

Parramatta Square is a development aimed at transforming the city centre, by creating a lively commerce and retail precinct. Mainland Civils were contracted to carry out the large-scale basement excavation and construction for the new buildings.

Conquip approached Mainland Civils as the project was perfectly suited to using the Direct-to-Truck BulkX, due to it being a space-restricted, site in the CBD and due to it being a deep excavation.

We worked with Mainland Civils closely to understand their requirements and we came up with the solution of a large Direct-to-Truck BulkX system, with an 8000 litres capacity. It was the first of this variation that had been produced at such a large capacity anywhere in the world, but it now possesses great potential to be used around the world.

We heard from the site team as to how well it worked on site:

“BulkX has improved efficiency during our final loadout of the project, the last 500m3. Loading times were cut down by 30% compared to conventional methods, such as using an excavator to fill the bucket of a long reach.”

As the first user of the Direct-to-Truck BulkX version in Australia, we asked what they thought of BulkX as a concept. This was what they said:

“BulkX is fantastic for loading out material in deep excavations, as well as in CBD projects where space is limited. Loading platforms are not required when using the BulkX, which further reduces costs.”

BulkX by Conquip is an excellent system for efficient, safe and cost-effective bulk excavation. It has been used for many years across construction projects around the world. The Direct-to-Truck system is essentially a large bin that is designed for transporting material directly from an excavation, straight into the back of a truck.

BulkX has improved efficiency during our final loadout of the project, the last 500m3. Loading times were cut down by 30% compared to conventional methods, such as using an excavator to fill the bucket of a long reach.
