Single Acting Manhole Brace

The Single Acting Manhole Brace is a four-sided hydraulic bracing system used with sheeting to provide support for small square or rectangular excavations.

It is suitable for manholes, cofferdams and other light to medium-duty applications between two and four metres, sheet to sheet. Each leg is extended hydraulically to suit the excavation
dimensions and retracted manually following pressure release.

On-site engineer support is available from our technical sales team and temporary works designs can be acquired by contacting our hire desk team.

Description

FEATURES

  • Legs
  • Adaptors
  • Pins
  • R-Clips

BENEFITS

  • The lightweight design makes the individual components easier to handle, position and install. Once assembled, the brace can be hydraulically adjusted to the required dimensions.
  • A single acting ram in each leg makes it easier to apply the exact pressure required against the excavation’s walls, improving stability and reducing the risk of over/under-loading.
  • Consistent and adjustable pressure enhances excavation support, preventing the risk of wall collapse and provides a safe environment for personnel to work in.
  • Particularly effective in manholes, cofferdams and other tight areas where traditional support systems may be too rigid or tricky to install.
  • Maintains even pressure distribution across excavation walls, reducing the likelihood of
    misalignment or localised failure points.

Supporting Documentation

Why would I choose a Single Acting Manhole Brace over other excavation support methods?

Single Acting Manhole Braces are preferred to alternative methods like shoring boxes or timbering due to their lightweight construction and simple assembly, which makes them quick and easy to install, even with smaller excavators.

What sizes of excavation can they span?

Conquip's Single Acting Manhole Brace can span excavations from 2 metres to 4 metres, sheet to sheet, ideal for cofferdams, manholes and other small to medium-sized excavations.

How are Conquip Single Acting Manhole Braces adjusted?

A single acting ram in each leg is used to adjust the brace which makes it easier to apply the exact pressure required against the excavation's walls, reducing the risk of over/under-loading. Unlike the Double Acting version, the Single Acting Manhole Brace is retracted manually following the release of pressure.
