ENVIRONMENT SOCIAL GOVERNANCE (ESG)

PRIORITISING SAFETY, SUSTAINABILITY AND PRODUCTIVITY

A few years ago, Conquip began its ESG journey. In reality many elements were started long before – with clear policies and initiatives in the areas of sustainability, environmental, corporate social responsibility and many more.

This is an overview of our more structured work to date.

ESG STRATEGY

As a large international engineering, manufacturing and supply company for the infrastructure, built environment and construction sectors, our ESG strategy is fully aligned to our company mission. You can read about that here.

SAFETY

  • We will always prioritise the health and safety of our people in their working day, by providing an environment free from dangers, along with training and clear guidelines.
  • We will always prioritise the safety of our customers’ employees, by ensuring they follow our product safety guidance and use our best-in-class equipment correctly, which we innovate and always engineer, manufacture and maintain to the highest safety standards and methodologies.
Image

PRODUCTIVITY

  • We understand that improved productivity can lead to a better environmental impact.
  • We will continue to advise our customers on how to streamline crucial elements including scheme design and sequencing, logistics and build methodology.
Image

SUSTAINABILITY

  • We will continue to create and improve our best-in-class equipment and services, and where possible, ensure that these will reduce one or more environmental impacts, including waste, energy and CO2 emissions.
  • In doing so, we play a part in our customers and suppliers achieving their own ESG goals.

STATEMENT OF INTENT

Our ESG goals and commitments involve, but are not limited to, priority areas: decarbonisation and Net Zero targets, use of renewable energy sources and energy-efficient practices, providing sustainable efficiencies for our customers, supply chain clarity and sustainability, social responsibility for our team and our customers’ teams, as well as additional governance for our operations. Some of these elements are already in place, some are being improved and some are being created.

In December 2024 we completed work on 1) our priorities and desired impacts 2) a project with a specialist and experienced, third-party consultant to baseline the measurement of our Scope 1, 2 and 3* greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards and guidelines and in February 2025 3) finalised an ESG roadmap, mapping to the UN SDG framework and with SBTi-aligned target setting methodologies**.

We understand the importance of an ESG roadmap and we must balance the commercial viability of our ESG commitments, for the benefit of our customers and the environment - and outline our work in all areas to date below.

*Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions are categories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that a company emits. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol defines these categories.

**near-term targets follow the SME Target Validation Route.

ESG APPROACH

WHAT WE'VE DONE

In recent years we have prioritised and achieved in a number of ESG-related areas.

Here is an overview of our progress up to the end of 2024.

FUTURE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

During 2024 we worked with an external consultant to research and plan our ESG approach. This included an overview of intended objectives and goals, requirements for policies, governance and reporting, as well as benchmarking, gap analysis and stakeholder research.

Following an internal materiality assessment where we heard what a mix of internal and external stakeholders told us about the potential impacts that were important to them, we defined our three strategic priorities and will underpin the progress with the appropriate level of governance.

ESG ROADMAP

Our first roadmap was formalised in February 2025.

The GHG audit, targets, goals and overall progress will be reviewed annually.

GHG EMISSIONS AUDIT

Also during 2024 we worked with an external GHG specialist consult to undertake a 2023 baseline year GHG emissions review covering scope 1,2 and 3.

As our Statement of Intent outlines, we have now calculated Scope 1 & 2 emissions aligned with the GHG Protocol Corporate Reporting Standard and Scope 2 guidance as well as emissions for applicable scope 3 categories aligned with GHG Protocol Value Chain Standard to support the strategy.
