Sydney Metro: Case Study Transcript

Here at Crows Nest we’re one of the stations for Sydney Metro.
We’re digging a station box to a level of about 30 metres below the road level here.

Hi, I’m John O’Toole. I’m a site engineer here at the Crows Nest site for Sydney Metro.
I’m looking after the spoil and managing spoil at this site. On this site we have to remove about 150,000 cubic metres of material.

So the Conquip BulkX system allows us to really efficiently excavate, so we can fill up these bins and discharge them straight into trucks without the need for stockpiling, in a matter of minutes.

Each day we’re getting about 50 to 60 rounds of truck and dogs out of our shed, and this is due to the Conquip BulkX system.
Other alternatives on this site were really marginal just because of the constraint of space.

Using this system meant that we could actually excavate down to our depth of 30 metres for the station box.

BulkX is reliable, safe, and really efficient.
It uses minimal space on site, so it’s really good for constrained sites.
BulkX removes the need for excavators and other plant and machinery on hire, so that reduces your overall cost, and it’s reliable as well.
