Harringtons Builders: Case Study Transcript

I’m Scott Carr, the director of health, safety, quality, and environment for Harrington’s Builders based in Wembley. So, from our previous systems that we had, we had no knowledge of what levels were within the tanks other than an operative going to the tank and dipping the tank to find out how much was left. We now have this system in place where the tank tells us how much is in the system. The whole management team have benefited from the input of this system into the company.

Hi, my name is Daniel Howlin and I’m a project manager for Harrington Builders PLC. The most important feature to me is the fuel level alert. As soon as the tank is down to 20-30% capacity, it automatically sends a notification to our plant department to notify them to order fuel and that goes directly to our plant manager via the cloud and we’ve got instant knowledge of what we’ve got on site.

It’s a standalone unit. So the unit itself runs off solar panels. So there’s no need for a power source close by which enables us to transport and place the fuel eco hub anywhere across the site with ease.

It’s sustainable, eco-friendly. We can order fuel direct. We know that this unit is secure. Fuel theft in the industry has become increasingly high since the transition from red diesel to white diesel. The Eco Hub has maximum security features, such as the double shoot locking bolts both top and bottom and internal locking features to maximize security and protection of the fuel on site. We’ve had a couple of sites in recent times who’ve had attempted break-ins but have been unsuccessful due to the security features of the Eco Hub.

Our operators are carded so we know who’s using it, what machines are using fuel and when. The fuel app is really easy to use. All our operators find it very user friendly. Each operative has their own individual ID login. So we can very easily see which operative is refuelling which machine.

So for us it was a win-win. I don’t think we could continue using the old system that we had and keeping our clients happy. The fuel hubs have benefited Harrington’s Builders in the fact that we now have 12 units in operation over obviously many of our sites. We have many sites. We intend to increase that to all our sites having the fuel hub. Yes, I would definitely recommend the fuel Eco Hub to other contractors. It has many benefits such as the increased fuel capacity, the safety and security element and the management of the fuel on site has been a huge benefit to us.

Recommendation for the use of the fuel hub is a must. I think all the principal contractors that we have and all our subcontractors should have these in place. Conquip have given a really good professional service to us on the transition to using the Conquip Fuel Eco-Hub.
