Bridgebank: Case Study Transcript

I’m Paul Jones, operations director at Bridgebank Limited, groundworks and roads and sewer contractor in East Midlands. We’ve got about  30 active sites and we work for all the big national house builders.

One of the biggest impacts we’ve had on our business over the last few years is the swap from red diesel to white diesel. Theft increased, security was an issue. That’s one of the main reasons we’ve come to the Conquip Eco-Hub system. We’ve got 10 across our busiest sites. From a subcontractor’s point of view, theft is massive with diesel. The amount of money that was spent on it. So, the eco hub system, the demolition tools that has got and the safety system, it’s impossible to steal the diesel.

I’m Mark Mullern, contracts manager for Bridgebank. I run this project for Barrett David Wilson. We have put all the infrastructure in. So, everything on plots up to DPC and roads and sewers throughout the whole project. Day-to-day use for the Fuel Eco-Hub is for plant and for our vans. With the vans, we can also make a saving because we’re not buying diesel from forecourts. Each gang has their own app, pull it up onto the phone, come up to the Eco Hub, input a code, fill up, then we can monitor everything back in our office as regards to which machine and which van is using, the amount of diesel they are per week, monitoring the economical values of the vans and the plant, if they’re using too much, are they burning diesel, why they’re burning diesel. One of my sites that I’ve got, we’ve had £6000 worth of diesel stolen in three months. Whereas we’ve had the Eco Hub here now for six weeks and no one’s touched the diesel on site. The benefit of the Eco Hub on site is we’ve got everything in one place. We’ve got the diesel tank, we’ve got our rad, we’ve got a spill kit, fire extinguisher, fence the area off. We’ve got safe egress and ingress into it and it just meets all the aspects for the health and safety on site.

The eco-hub itself is not run off generators or anything. It’s standalone. It’s run off solar power. So as soon as you start a site, day one, you bring it in, you’ve got fuel straight away. The key factor is the location on site. It made it efficient by having one place, all the machines to access. I see a big benefit for someone like a house builder using it. They’ve got multiple subcontractors on site. Everyone could have their own individual fob or keypad. I’ve worked with Conquip for over years now. I always find they come up with new ideas. The Eco Hub is the newest thing on the market. I think you see it’s a massive benefit to what we do.
