Battersea Power Station: Case Study Transcript

My name is Peter Reed.
I’m the lifting operations manager for Vital Energy here at Batey Power Station.

Safety is critical in lifting.
We’re talking four, five, six-ton loads over people’s heads.

My decision was to not use slings at almost all lifts, and use the forklift straight from the truck, putting the load straight into the lifting cage.
Hence the reason why I called Conquip to design this cage.

I spoke with the designers at Conquip and we both came up with the idea of this particular lifting cage.
It would suit our needs here to get bigger items down into the basement cage.

Not only is it producing more safety, because you don’t have to get men up in the back of the truck anymore, so I eliminated working at height, it has also sped up the programme on the project, because we got a lot more items dropped down in one lift.

Without this cage, we wouldn’t have been able to lift these products down into our basement.

I found working with Conquip very good — they listened to my needs.
They were diligent and very fast at getting the process done and getting the kits delivered to site.

A world-renowned company. I’ve worked with them overseas in Singapore, in Australia, back home in Ireland, and here in London.
So I would recommend Conquip to anybody.
