Training that Takes You Further

14th, May 2026

Training can take many forms.

Toolbox talks, practical hands-on and in-depth sessions, materials and videos. We think it’s important to offer the industry a thorough training approach, to help project teams get the most out of our equipment and to keep sites running safely and compliantly.

Alongside a full range of supporting technical documents and videos that are all free to everyone on any device, helping operatives to set up and use our equipment safely with confidence, we regularly hold training sessions for contractors around the country.

What can you expect in one of our training courses?

For some of our most complex equipment, a paid training course may be the right approach.

The training is for groups of up to 6, so supervisors and operatives understand not just how to use the equipment safely, but why it works the way it does. The sessions will see operatives work with the equipment under close supervision from the trainer.

Plus, everyone can check back to the in-depth technical user guides and a range of step-by-step animations and videos afterwards at any time, to help ensure best practice is followed.

Over approximately a two-hour timeframe and blending theory with practical learning, we carry out classroom teaching and demonstrate checks for all equipment.

Afterwards, everyone has a certificate to show their attendance – valid for two years – and to provide evidence to the QHSE team.

What happens in each training session?

BulkX – Direct-to-Truck and Smart-Release

Our bulk excavation methodology transforms muck handling and needs experienced operatives working with these big drop-bottom skips. At the end of the session attendees will go away knowing how to carry out pre-use checks, how each unique system operates, what to check before every lift and how to release the muck safely from the skip before each cycle.

CantiDeck

Everyone attending this session will participate in a comprehensive interactive theory section covering the installation, usage, relocation and de-installation of our cantileverd crane-loading decks. Then they’ll take some test questions on a smartphone or on paper if required, before joining in on the practical installation under the supervision of the trainer.

Concrete Skip

The training will give operatives a thorough understanding of the vital pre-use checks to the skip body, bale arm or lifting chains and the hose, operational instructions covering safe use – including operatives not standing under the suspended load, familiarisation of the safety-led concrete skip attachments (Extended Flow Gate Handle and House Guide & Insert), before learning about safe storage and washing out of the skip.

Concrete Washout

Whether you have our Concrete Washout System or Compact Concrete Washout Unit, operatives will go away knowing how to place the equipment, electrical set up, filling the systems, how to correctly pH treat the wastewater, how to safely remove the waste from each item to ensure compliance with RPS 287 requirements and how to re-use the treated water for further use, based on site-specific requirements.

Formwork Rack

What looks like a simple rack does need some technical knowledge. Attendees will go away understanding the pre-use checks including the condition of the rack and lifting points, as well how to stay within the loading limits, before checking the condition, size and suitability of the formwork panels, steel, plastic or shuttering to be stored, and how to safely carry out sequenced loading and unloading.

Powerbrush Forklift Sweeper

This fantastic alternative to a dedicated road sweeper on sites is hugely popular. In this session, attendees will learn how to inspect the sweeper, how to check the area to be cleaned, how to safely attach to a forklift and telehandler, operate the machine with the sweeper attached and how to empty the hopper and safely de-attach the sweeper from the machine.

Shoring – Drag Box, Manhole Box, Trench Box

This isn’t a full temporary works course; instead, it’s for operatives to understand the components that make up each type of standard and lightweight box, and then it covers the correct assembly as well as safe installation, extraction and storage of these box systems.

FAQs

I have a training session booked in soon. What do I need to do before the engineer arrives, from a health and safety perspective?

  • Please ensure that you have a safe working area with the item of equipment ready for the start of the session, along with a list of the agreed participants (up to 6) present and wearing the correct PPE.
If the equipment is crane-loaded, please have the slinger-signaller and the correct type of crane available, along with the approved lift plan.
Finally, you’ll need a Method Statement and Risk Assessment completed in accordance with your site’s requirements. Conquip can provide working instructions and/or RAMS templates on request.

Can you run training courses on any other type of equipment besides the BulkX, CantiDeck, Concrete Skip, Powerbrush Forklift Sweeper, Shoring Boxes, Formwork Rack and Concrete Washout items?

  • Yes, we can. Please contact us to talk through the area of knowledge you’d like to improve in your team and we can speak to our team of on-site engineers to put together the session.

What materials will you provide to my team at the end of each training course?

  • A list of pre-use checks, the product’s user guide and the certificates for each team member.

Talk to the Conquip Covered team to see if one of our training sessions is right for you…
