The Project

The Marsh Wall project is a 56-storey tower block construction for Chalegrove Properties Ltd (CPL), part for the South Quay Plaza complex on the Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf. The completed project will provide 332 new homes, restaurants, retail outlets and other non-residential institutions.

Challenges

The challenges for this project were limited site access, with only one entrance to enter and exit the site, and the integration of a new load monitoring software, the first project Conquip had implemented this software on.

Working with Conquip has been a really professional experience, they’re always willing to go the extra mile.

Solution

All propping equipment was supplied on a flat-bed trailer through our FORS Gold Transport Service to ensure deliveries were on time and prevent any delays to the build schedule.

The remote load monitoring system ensures all data is recorded and provides accurate, real-time readings, 24/7. This technology offers a valuable insight into more detailed loadings allowing both Conquip, the client and structural engineers to view real-time readings of prop loadings, showing when each level of props can be removed.

The data is downloaded and can be displayed in various metrics, including graphs for quick and easy digesting, and then easily shared with the Modebest, Conquip and structural engineers.

Pre-set trigger limits were agreed between Modebest, Conquip and the structural engineers and set for each prop in a traffic light system to identify the severity of the amount the limit has been exceeded. If a limit was exceeded, the monitoring system informed all necessary parties and depending on the severity, the contractor can liaise with Conquip and the structural engineers to take the necessary action required.

Conquip have been a pleasure to deal with, they’ve delivered on everything we’ve asked of them, from design to installation and transport. This is the first time we’ve used Conquip on a propping scheme and I would have no problem using them again.
